How To Create A Dutch Fishtail Side Braid

Happy Wednesday Blush Babes:)! Today I’m going to take you step by step on how to create a dutch fishtail side braid. Dutch just means the braid pops out (and you braid your hair under instead of over)! This hairstyle is perfect for those days when you want a super cute hairstyle but also have your hair out of your face! Plus, fishtails are one of my favorite braids to do!

Let’s get started!

How To Create A Dutch Fishtail Side Braid

1.) First, your want to part your hair on the side and comb out all the tangles.

2.) Then, starting at the very root of your side part pick out a very small section of hair and divide into two pieces. This will be the start of your fishtail braid. The closer to your part the better the fishtail braid will look!

3.) Then, once you have your two separate pieces take a small section of one of the pieces. Take that piece and braid under and combine that piece with the other section of hair. You will not incorporate any new hair other than your two original pieces for step 3 and 4.

4.) Do the same thing with the other side.

5.) Once you have done steps 3 and 4 you can start to incorporate small sections of hair as you fishtail down the side of your head. This is just like doing a french braid, only you are using two sections of hair instead of three!

6.) You will continue to incorporate new pieces of hair into your fishtail until you reach the middle of your ear.

7.) Once your reach the middle of your ear you will stop incorporating new pieces of hair and continue the fishtail braid all the way down until the ends of your hair!

8.) Then, you will tie off the braid with an elastic band. I love using clear hair bands so it doesn’t detract from the braid.

9.) The last step is to pull the braid apart (or you can leave as is!). I love pulling the braid out to create a thicker hair effect!

  3. This looks like such a lovely hairstyle! I’ve tried to do something like this so many times and I just get frustrated and just end up leaving it out (as always), lol! This is such a great step-by-step tutorial, which I will attempt to use as a guide. I won’t have to worry about pressing pause because you’re going to fast for my slow fingers, haha!

I hope you’re having a wonderful day, beauty!
