There are two different trends going on in this look today. The first one is the denim on denim, but if we are being honest with ourselves when is trend ever NOT in style?! There is something so chic about adding a chambray shirt with denim. This trend is amazing no matter how to you style it. You can mix and match denim washes (such as a dark wash jean with a light wash shirt) or you can do a neutral palette and layer denim washes of the same color. I did the same wash look in this outfit today!

One of the questions I asked myself this season is, “Are cutoff jeans to young for me”? I am in my mid-twenties, so I feel like I can still wear cutoffs, but I do feel like there is a right and wrong way to do this type of denim jean. Since cutoffs are ultra short (you can see my pockets!) I wanted to be more covered on top. That is where the long sleeved shirt and the trench coat come into play. I feel like the top portion of this look is the perfect counterbalance to my shorts. I understand when the summer temperatures come around wearing a long sleeve shirt and trench coat are not possible to wear with cutoff jeans, but styling this look for mid-summer is coming up in another blog post (so stay tuned)!

The mixing of various lengths to your outfits, as I did here, is having a serious moment- cue the second trend! The mixing of lengths is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye and you look like a styling genius when done correctly! The key to this trend is to have fun with it, and not be afraid to take risks. Another way to mix lengths is if you had on a casual dress and threw on a cropped denim vest. You would have the longer length as the dress and then the shorter length found in the denim vest!

What do you think of this look?! I would love to hear from you in the comments below! Thanks so much for reading!
