Friday Favorite: Ashley from DTK Austin Styling

2015-09-14_0001

For the second week of Friday Favorite (to see the first, click this link here!) I am SO happy to feature Ashley the creator of the blog DTK Austin Styling. I met Ashley over Instagram and fell in love with her chic and feminine style. She always leaves the sweetest comments, not only my insta page, but other women’s as well! Plus, not only is she a fashion blogger, Ashley also has her own personal styling business! Her services range from a wardrobe overhaul to helping college students get ready for interviews after graduation. So, of course I had to feature this real life #girlboss in my mini series:)! Make sure you show her some love and follow her on Instagram @dtkaustin and check out her blog at this link here! I asked Ashley a few questions and this is what she had to say:

Why did you decide to start a blog?
I come from a very creative background and ended up actually being an architect when I first moved to Austin after college. I loved the creative side of design but felt that it wasn’t really for me so, after a LOT of hard work, I started my own wardrobe styling company. Not like I have a ton of free time, but I thought that blogging would be a fun side project to jump into. So I spruced up the blog and started blogging again as a fun hobby.

How did you come about picking your blog name out?
My blog name is actually an extension of my company name. Most people actually don’t even know what my business and all of my usernames even stand for. So I’ll let all of your readers in on that little secret… The DTK stands for Dressed to Kill.  Prior to my business expanding I would use the full name, Dressed to Kill Austin and then decided it needed to be shorter for my LLC so it evolved to DTK Austin Styling.

What are some of your favorite stores to shop at?
I love shopping at cute boutiques while I am traveling, but if I am shopping in Austin I normally stick to places like Nordstrom, H&M, Zara and a few boutiques like COVE and FOUND. I love to mix high end pieces with
extremely affordable ones as well.

What is your fashion philosophy?
Style really exudes who you are as a person. If you’re wearing a frumpy outfit you’re not going to radiate power and confidence as you would in a sexy dress or in a look you truly feel amazing in. You should feel classy and comfortable enough to be confident in whatever you are wearing.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I love bringing myself into a totally different world. Like I said before, the wardrobe styling world is nothing like the blogging world so I get to see both sides of the fashion industry which is extremely interesting.  I would say the best part about blogging is meeting so many great ladies. You always run into the catty girls who are in it for themselves, but thankfully i’ve only come across a few of those in my year of blogging. And I can’t act like getting a ton of free goodies is a bad thing either! 😉

If you could wear an outfit that describes who you are, what would that
outfit be?
My style is more on the edgier side, yet very minimal. You wouldn’t guess that through my instagram since I try show a wide variety of styles, but I always love to wear a classic pair of skinny jeans, heels and a statement piece whether it be with my handbag, jewelry, or shoes. That will come out more in my fall posts.
