Hello, Gorgeous! Today I’m sharing my top tips for how to look more photogenic in photos because who doesn’t want that?! With the rise of social media, specifically Instagram, we all want to put our best face forward (pun intended). There is nothing worse then spending time having your boyfriend, husband, or friend take your photos and when you look at them you hate all of them. I’ve totally been there- sorry, Chuck!

I almost didn’t start my blog because I was so nervous to get in front of the camera. I didn’t consider myself a “model” or photogenic whatsoever. But, throughout my two years of blogging I’ve learned a thing or two about taking a photo and looking your best.

I hope today helps you in your quest to look fab in all your photos no matter what! Alright- here are my top tips…

HOW TO LOOK MORE PHOTOGENIC IN YOUR PHOTOS

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

The first tip I’m going to share with you ladies is to dedicate a photoshoot with your friend or S.O dedicated to finding your “poses.”  Think of this as a practice shoot and not for your blog. When take time to do a practice shoot it takes all the pressure off of you and your friend or S.O to get the shot.  You don’t need to get dressed up or post any of these to your blog or social media.

The purpose of this shoot is to play around with different poses and figure out what works and what doesn’t work. Take 5-7 photos and then take a look at them. If there is a photo that you look amazing in go back and try to recreate that pose or the way your head was tilted, etc. Try to recreate that pose until you’ve got three amazing pics that you are 100% happy with.

Then, add this pose or angel into your blogger babe “tool box” when taking photos. The more you take time dedicated to practicing taking photos the easier it will be when it comes time to take photos for your blog or if you only have a few seconds to snap a picture for your social media.

HAVE A NO FAIL POSE

As a #GirlBoss I’m sure you know the pose that always, and I mean always, makes you look flattering in photos. This is different for everybody, but this is the pose you are kinda known for! Chances are this is the pose that when you scroll through your Instagram or other social media accounts pops up more than others- it’s a trend specific to you!

There is nothing wrong with having this go-to pose! In fact, I encourage it because we’ve all been in a situation when we needed to ask a stranger to take our photo and really only have one or two pics to nail the shot before posting.

When this happens you go to your no fail pose because you know you’re going to look #flawless. Some women have more than one no fail pose and that’s amazing because who doesn’t want options?!

READY, SET, ACTION!

The third tip for looking more photogenic is to have your friend or S.O take photos of you when you are doing something totally normal in-between posing. This could be fixing your hair, actually laughing instead of fake laughing (I know you’ve been there!), or the process of changing in between poses.

Some of my favorite pics have been the ones when I am not actually posing and I don’t know my photographer is still taking pics! The reason why these photos work so well is because you look so natural and people can totally relate to these everyday movements.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some outtakes when I look ridiculous in between poses, so this doesn’t work 100% of the time, but when it does that is usually your picture because you look natural, happy, and relaxed.
