#SuccessfulStyle: Jenna From Visions of Vogue

Hello, Gorgeous! Thank you SO much for stopping by Blush & Camo because today is the third post of the new mini series called #SuccessfulStyle. In this mini series I interview popular fashion bloggers and they share how they developed their style, what their fashion philosophy is, and pieces they find crucial to their wardrobe! What Blush Babe doesn’t want some insight into how top blogger babes view style and developed their own personal style?!
Today I’ve interviewed beautiful blogger babe Jenna from Visions Of Vogue! Her blog posts are amazing (the photography alone is SO breathtaking!), her outfits are always chic and on trend, and if she didn’t exude enough #GirlBoss vibes she also happens to be a total sweetheart. Keep reading to find out about Jenna’s style philosophy and make sure to check out her blog (and be prepared to stay on her site for awhile- it’s addicting!).

How did you develop your personal style?

I’ve taken inspiration from everywhere – Pinterest, Instagram, travel, street fashion. My style has definitely evolved over time as I’ve learned how to flatter my body type best (tall, long torso, wide hips)! I love creating feminine shapes with romantic prints and billowy fabrics but I’m also into edgy moto jackets with over the knee boots. It doesn’t fit into one category – I’d hate to be predictable!

If you could describe your personal style in three words what would they be?

Flattering. Affordable. Flirty.

What are some must have items in a women’s wardrobe?

Shoes! Over the knee boots are a must. With fall around the corner, they are one of the most slimming items out there. I also just love your classic pump. It’s timeless for a reason and I’ll never stop wearing them whether I’m headed to an interview or out to dinner.

Every girl also needs great fitting pair of jeans. Denim is the least fun thing to shop for but once you find the pair or brand that works for you, it’s like magic! I’m hugely loyal to Paige Denim because the cuts tend to flatter girls with curves like mine more!

What are your three favorite pieces in your closet?

My black Karen Walker Number One Sunglasses have to make the. I feel like Karen Walker has some incredible power to make super flattering shapes. I literally wore them every day so this summer I finally splurged on a couple more pairs to mix it up.

I’m also obsessed with a white Prada crossbody I got while in Italy a few years back. I made Matt make the trek to the outlets outside of Florence and we spent the whole day shopping (his worst nightmare). Lastly, my wedding dress! It was a low-back pearl beaded Galia Lahav with no shortage of tulle. While I might not have another occasion to wear it, I’m still obsessed with it!

Was there anyone who greatly influenced your style growing up?

No – I’m a very independent person so I’m always doing my own thing!

Do you have a fashion philosophy? If so, what is your fashion philosophy?

I like to try anything once! Except for socks with sandals – that is completely out of the question. If it works, it works. And if it doesn’t, then at least I know it isn’t for me!

Are there any style guidelines are rules that you adhere to strictly?

The only rule I adhere to is to make sure whatever I’m wearing is flattering! As a taller gal, this means I have to pass on trends like rompers like one-piece swimwear but I’m totally okay with that. Seriously, no one wants to see me hunched over trying to squeeze into either of those!

What style guidelines and rules do you break?

The main one that comes to mind is wearing white after Labor Day. I wear white year-round and am a believer in wearing what you want when you want.

Do you have a signature that you incorporate into all your looks (i.e your hair a certain way, specific jewelry, or wear certain colors)?

Yes! I ALWAYS wear sunglasses! This wasn’t intentional but people really seem to notice. Since we usually shoot outdoors and my eyes are super sensitive to light, I’m always wearing sunglasses! I’ve tried to shoot without and it’s just a disaster – my eyes are closed or my face is in some sort of terribly looking grimace!

What tips would you give women looking to elevate their style?

Don’t shy away from making an investment in a piece you love! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about the deals. But for the classic pieces that you will wear season after season (suede boots, the little black dress, outerwear), the investment is always worth it. The cost per wear ends up being less plus the item fits better!

If you could give only one piece of fashion advice what would it be and why?

Wear what you love and don’t worry about anything else. When I first started blogging, I found myself wearing some things that I wouldn’t have necessarily bought without the pressure of fitting in. When I looked back at those posts, I always ended up cringing! It’s so important to find what you love and see how that translates into your own personal style!

What stores do you recommend to women looking to elevate and grow in their personal style?

I’m a huge fan of Nordstrom because they have both affordable and luxury items. It really is a one stop shop for everything from a basic tee to your favorite night cream. I also love Revolve – if I could shop at one store for the rest of my life, it would be Revolve. Almost every high is really high quality and it’s edgy plus they have a fair share of crop tops!

Rapid Fire Questions with Jenna!…

Skirt or Pants? Skirts!

Bold Lip or Neutral Lip? Bold Lip – I’m obsessed with the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lip right now in Bawse!

Heels or Flats? Flats for work, heels the rest of the time!

Handbag or Clutch? Handbag – I like to have everything I need with me at all times!

Bold jewelry or delicate? This one is a tossup! I’m a huge fan of both. I think I wear delicate jewelry more often though because I like to let my outfit stand out!

Thank you so much for stopping by Blush & Camo! Sending you all tons of love today!

xx Julianna
