#SuccessfulStyle: Len from Len Parent

/July 27, 2016
Hello, Gorgeous! Thank you SO much for stopping by Blush & Camo because today is the first post of the new mini series #SuccessfulStyle. In this mini series I interview popular fashion bloggers and they share how they developed their style, what their fashion philosophy is, and pieces they find crucial to their wardrobe!
To kick off the mini series I’ve interviewed fashion blogger Len from Len Parent! Her style is AMAZING (yes, all caps are totally necessary!) and her ability to mix bright colors with patterns is unmatched. She’s a total sweetheart and I can’t wait for you to read all about how Len developed her #SuccessfulStyle!
How did you develop your personal style?
Look for inspiration. Go through what you already own and decide what you like. Pieces that you keep should have a fit that’s flattering to your body, as well as an overall look that blends with your shape. A new pair of shoes can add a different to your look. Look something you can wear often and that fits with the general look you’re trying to achieve.
If you could describe your personal style in three words what would they be?
Classic, feminine, Colorful
What are some must have items in a women’s wardrobe?
Every women is different, but I do believe there’s a standard set of 7 pieces that make it easy for an active, practical woman to look effortlessly chic and modern.
1. A Black leather jacket
2. A pair of jeans
3. A pair of ankle boots, one pair in black, one in brown 4. 4. A little black dress
5. A great pair of sunglasses
6. A structured,classic bag for everyday
7. A pair of black pumps
What are your three favorite pieces in your closet?
Bright cross body bag, Leather Jacket, Sunglasses
Was there anyone who greatly influenced your style growing up?
My Mom– She has always been 100%, completely encouraging of me in everything I do.
Do you have a fashion philosophy? If so, what is your fashion philosophy?
Only buy things that make you want to do a little dance in them.
Are there any style guidelines are rules that you adhere to strictly?
I always wear sunglasses. I love colorful clothes.
What style guidelines and rules do you break?
Yes. Shorts are only for summer. Horizontal stripes make you look larger.
Do you have a signature that you incorporate into all your looks?
I make my hair stay curled. You will always see me in pink nail polish.
What tips would you give women looking to elevate their style?
1. Know your colours.
2. Organize your closet.
3. Donate clothes you’ll never wear.
4. Try everything on. Make sure you always try clothes on when you shop.
5. Alter your clothes. It’s important when you’re investing in articles of clothing that becomes staples, like blazers and pants, that you have them tailored. It will ensure your money is well-spent, will make the piece that much more special and will make you feel great every time you wear it. 6.Know your measurements before you shop. Not only will it cut down the time you spend trying on clothes, it will help you choose outfits that fit your body perfectly.
If you could give only one piece of fashion advice what would it be and why?
Just be yourself. Stop comparing yourself to others. If comparing is how you evaluate your worth, you will always be losing. In this game of life you will never reach a point where you are better than others in every way and why would you want to be. Part of what makes life awesome and interesting is learning from the talents of others. Instead of trying to be as good as or better than others, focus your energy on being the very best version of yourself.
What stores do you recommend to women looking to elavate and grow in their personal style?
I always shop at Dillard’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Macys and Forever21.

  1. Really liked this post, and really excited to read more! I found it interesting where she and I differ in style, but where the underlying truths are the same. Love the idea of doing a little dance when you like a piece, and definitely agree it’s critical to not compare!
