The pictures today are from the event and Vivan Hsu took these amazing shots!:). I would like to thank Sydney Mintle and Darcy Camden for putting together such an amazing event!

Let’s get styling!

THREE STYLE ELEMENTS

I’m going to jump right into it and state the three must have elements you need to create amazing work outfits. I give tons of style tips throughout Blush & Camo, but these style elements. These elements are the key to creating the BEST work appropriate outfits every. single. time. I promise!

Length

Incorporating varying lengths into your work outfit is essential to adding an overall chic vibe in the most subtle way possible. People probably will not walk up to you and say “The way you styled various lengths today is on point!” but they will notice how proportionate your outfit is and compliment your look without realizing why they love your look so much.

Yes, length is that subtle and THAT effective! This style element is also the easiest to incorporate into your look. Below are ways to incorporate length into your look.

1.) Add a blazer when wearing a dress or pants to play with a shorter length to your overall look.

2.) Tuck in your shirt to accentuate your waist and create a streamline effect.

3.) Wear a pencil skirt with a vest.

4.)  Layer dainty jewelry to subtly break up the top portion of your outfit with various lengths.

5.) Incorporating a sweater or cardigan is the perfect way instantly add length and lock in extra heat!

These are just a few ways to incorporate length, but give you a base for which pieces to style!

MATERIAL

Mixing materials is another style element you want to incorporate into your work day outfit.  I highly recommend incorporating at least two materials into your look. Following this style tip not only prevents your look from appearing to monotone, but also gives your look a more luxurious feel. For example, mixing chiffon material with cotton is subtle, feminine, and work appropriate.

Mixing material doesn’t need to be a fashion statement, just a way to add more style into your look!

COLOR

Incorporating color is an elegant way to increase the chicness of your outfit! You don’t need to wear a ton of color for this style element to work- in fact, I recommend not adding too much color to your workplace look. This tip is if you’re stuck in a pattern of wearing black all the time.

If your workplace is more formal try incorporating more neutrals such as blacks, grays, and camel tones into one cohesive look.

If your workplace is less formal sticking with neutrals and incorporating light colors such as blush is the perfect way to appear both professional and stylish!

The 70/30 Guideline

Incorporating these three style elements are crucial to creating a stylish and professional workday outfit, but there is a guideline when combining these three elements.

You don’t want to try and evenly split these elements into one look. In order to make your outfit look the best it possibly can I recommend using the 70/30 guideline.

Here’s how it works: Take two of the three elements and put your main focus on those two elements. This will account for 70% of your outfit. For example, you want your main focus to be on length and material so you stick with neutrals for your overall look. The neutrals are still chic, but don’t take away from the other two elements your incorporating into your outfit. The neutrals are 30% of your overall look.

You look 100% put together and professional, but not overdone!

IF YOU WEAR A UNIFORM…

If you wear a uniform to work and have no say in what your outfit is, don’t worry Gorgeous, I’ve got you covered. The key is to add one, or more, elements to your look that make you feel amazing. Some of these examples include…

-A nail polish color you love.

– Taking extra time to style your hair a certain way

– Delicate jewelry you can glance at throughout the day.

– A certain pair of shoes your dress code allows you to wear that you love. For me this is my favorite brand of combat boots!

– Adding a little contour to your makeup

– Splurging on undergarments you love that no one else needs to know about!

The key to wearing a uniform is abiding by your workplace dress code while still feeling confident! Adding an element that increases your confidence is the perfect way both you and your workplace are happy!
