THE RUFFLE TREND
Much like the sheer trend, talked about in this post here, the ruffle trend is feminine with a modern twist. Ruffles are the classic romantic item such as an all lace dress or tulle skirt. This trend is much more understated.
The romantic aspect comes into play once you put your ruffled shirt or dress on and you see the movement of the material when you walk. When I tried on this top on from H&M I fell instantly in love with the flutter of movement and knew this piece just earned a spot in my closet!
The ruffle trend is also works amazing with the 70’s trend that has been dominating runways and stores for the past few months (and I’m not mad about it;) ).
HOW TO STYLE THE RUFFLE TREND
Now that you know about what the ruffle trend is and why this trend is becoming increasingly popular it’s important to know how to style this trend! There are four ways to style this trend to look feminine, sophisticated, trendy, and like a total #blushbabe.
A RUFFLED TOP
This is the easiest way to style this trend! Simply pick a ruffled top you love (reference below for my favorite picks!) and add bottoms that work with your personal style!
Bottoms that would look amazing are:
– Jeans (you can opt between any type of denim from skinny jeans, bell bottoms, boot cut, coulettes, etc..)
– Structured skirt- this is more for if you opt to wear a ruffled top to the office and want make this look more polished and sophistocated while still trying this trend!
– Maxi Skirt- incorporate this bottom for more of a bohemian vibe to your look like this option here
A RUFFLED DRESS
A ruffled dress is the ultimate romantic piece to add to your wardrobe at the moment. When shopping for a dress like this look for ruffles in the shoulder, arm, and bottom of the dress. These are areas where adding extra material will not add bulk to places where you don’t want it.
Avoid ruffles anywhere around your torso because you want to show off your waist (the tiniest area) and not add extra material to hide this part of your body!
A RUFFLED SKIRT
I absolutely LOVE ruffled skirts and if this is more your style look for a skirt that
– Hits about the knee to keep the skirt feminine, flirty, and not too much material.
– Add a blouse as the top to still incorporate the loose feel of the outfit
– Incorporating a pair of flats or sleek pumps like these here, here, and here would look perfect to tie your whole look together.
