I am so excited to finally share this blog post! I have always loved styling clothes and watching the latest trends. There are so many options for women to see what the latest styles are- magazines, pop culture, and fashion blogs just to name a few. Men don’t necessairly look at fashion blogs or magazines on the reg. I have also found (through talking to many girlfriends) that men usually wear what their girlfriends or wives buy them. So with those thoughts swirling in my head I figured I needed to do a His and Hers style post about Chuck’s style evolution and show a spring look men (or their significant other) could pull inspiration from (bonus: I got cute pictures of Chuck!).

Chuck and I have been dating now for over three and a half years and if I could sum up his style it would be “prepster meets hipster.” That is in no way an official style term but I am making one up just for Chuck. One year into our relationship he asked me to step up his clothing game. So, I took a look at the clothes he currently had and I realized there was no point of view to them.  Now, there are some people in the world who claim that they just wear clothes and they don’t care what they look like, but my belief in style is that what you wear is always making a statement- even if that statement is “I don’t care what I look like.”

I decided to start out with the basics with Chuck and then slowly add some trendier pieces to his closet. The nice part about men’s clothing is their trends seem to last longer than women’s clothing. One week the magazines will be stating pastel skinny jeans are “in” for women and then three weeks later it’s all about the capri pants and pastel pants are a fashion don’t! This is not the case for men. I started out having him purchase two pairs of really nice fitting jeans, a pair of timeless shoes, and button downs. Men can dress up or down these types of shirts by adding a tie to dress up or adding a vest to dress down. You can quote me on this: Men can NEVER have too many button downs.

As Chuck got more comfortable in his new clothes he started to realize items he liked and didn’t like and we started adding “layering” pieces (such as vests, henley’s, and various types of jackets); pieces that (when adding to the classic items he already owned) really gave a statement. The look Chuck is wearing today I would classify as classic. In the spring men can definitely wear lighter colors such as pastels. The jeans he has on are slate washed. I have never seen a jean wash like this and I fell in love with them when Chuck found them. They are perfect for summer and spring.
