Hello, gorgeous! Today’s post is all about how to style a glamorous look for NYE wearing feathers! This holiday is about extravagance and going a bit over the top. If you follow these 4 style tips you will be the belle of the ball for any NYE party!
Let’s get started!
PICK YOUR FEATHERED ITEM
The first, and most obvious, step is to pick the item you want feathers on. I highly recommend the item be an outer layer such as a skirt, vest, jacket, etc… because you want this piece to be your focal point. You don’t want to cover it up.
I chose this feathered skirt from the Pink Martini Collection! I love the movement of this skirt and how comfortable it is!
STICK WITH A NEUTRAL PALETTE
This is the most important step. You want to stick with an neutral palette because feathers demand so much attention. I am also playing with textures and patterns in this look. If you add bright colors to this look your outfit will stray from chic and start entering into the “to much going on” category (and we totally don’t want that).
I opted for a classic black and white color palette because this color combo is timeless. Since I have so much going on in this outfit the black and white hues help to tie everything together into one cohesive look!
PLAY WITH TEXTURE AND PATTERN
As stated above feathers demand a lot of attention, and this is the focal point of this entire look! Usually I recommend sticking with one main texture or print in an outfit, but since feathers are such a fun item to wear I DO recommend playing with texture and patterns! (keep in mind these textures and patterns should stay in the neutral color palette you’ve chosen.)
I decided to pair this dotted blouse and a faux leather jacket with this look. I love this mixture of print and material which adds some depth to this outfit!
BONUS STYLE TIP: If you decide not add any additional textures or patterns as I did in this post feel free to add some bright colors. The bright color you choose will add that extra pop of fun your feathered item needs!
ADD CLOSET STAPLE ACCESSORIES
To complete this look add some #closetstaple accessories such as a black handbag and classic black pumps. These wardrobe essentials adds a timelessness to your overall outfit!
I would also stray away from large baubles and opt for more delicate pieces in either gold or silver (whichever you prefer!).
With these 4 simple style tips this outfit is guaranteed some compliments NYE:)! What did you think of today’s post?! I would love to hear from you in the comments below!
