Today I am sharing a jacket which I have owned for years and pull out every single fall season (hint: this is a #closetstaple). The item I am talking about it the military jacket!
As a girl who knows a thing or two about the Army I thought it would be fun to share with you Blush Babes the similarities and differences this fashionable military jacket has compared to a military jacket the Army would issue you (I happen to own both!).
Let’s get started!
SIMILARITIES
Although this jacket is merely an interpretation of an issued military jacket there are some striking similarities! Here are a few I noticed:)
1.) The Loose Fit. The fit of this jacket is right on the money when compared to military issued clothing. When the Army issues you an item the fit is never form fitting (unless it has to be for safety reasons) and comes in a standard S,M, or L.
2.) The Color. Every single issued item I own has some variation of green in it. The deep hunter green in this jacket matches perfectly with the deeper green tones found in the uniform we wear.
3.) Pockets. A large majority of our issued gear (to include all jackets) has SO many pockets to put items into if needed. This jacket has breast pockets AND pockets down below. This brand totally nailed this aspect of military clothing.
4.) Options to Adjust. This jacket has the option to roll the sleeves up or down and also to cinch in at the waist for a more defined waist. This is SO accurate to all military clothing, especially military jackets. Since our clothing does not come tailored there are many ways to adjust the clothing to fit to our bodies ranging from waist band ties, wrist cuff variations, and pant leg ties.
There are many similarities between this military jacket and my actual issued Army one, but there are also some huge differences as well. These were the top differences I noticed!
1.) Safety Features. Most of our issued items have some sort of safety feature included into the item such as bug repellent built into the fabric, water proof material, heat locking technology, wind resistant material ect. Since the military jacket I have on is strictly for fashion, it does not have any of these features!
2.) No Camo. This is the most obvious difference (well, at least to me it is!). Almost all our military jackets, with the exception of one, has our camouflage pattern on it.
3.) Cleaning. Military issued clothing is meant to get dirty and worn (a lot!) so our issued jackets can easily be cleaned. This jacket has too many delicate pieces and stitching to just throw in the washer or dryer to easily clean.
There you have it! Those are the main similarities and differences I found when comparing my actual Army issued items and this gorgeous jacket!
I hope you are having a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by Blush & Camo!

This is really neat! So many things in the fashion world are inspired by other cultures or even programs like the military, it’s interesting to see the comparisons between the real deal and the fashion one. Love how you styled it as well!

What a fun post! It was great getting some insight to the similarities between the jackets you wear in the army and the fashion takes. I’ve been watching this show on Discovery, which documents the training of the military and navy seals, intense and it’s my new favorite show! I highly respect and honor you for your service and commitment to this country. I look forward to more fashion posts, with some army insight, like this one. It’s so unique and original 🙂
I hope you have an amazing day, beautiful!
